Well we went to everything from Hotels, Restaurants and even Church Halls; it was a quaint Church Hall in the end that felt right, rather than being about having the reception and ceremony in a up market Hotel or restaurant.

Initially I was very keen on a Church wedding, however when we started looking into it, it was going to be far to complicated.

Paul had been married before and we would have had to get an annulment.

That could take, as we found out anything from 6 months to 18  months and there were costs involved as well,  whether we got it or not

The decision was made between us that we would use a Celebrant.Luckily for us, I knew a Celebrant through work. We arranged for her to come over and meet Paul a few weeks later and when she walked out he said “Book her”.

So we did.  We ended up with a very personal ceremony.

Whether you decide to go for a Church wedding or a ceremony by the beach, at home or in a setting ideal for you, so long as you feel comfortable with the Clergyman or Celebrant, this  is most important.

The best idea is to work out what sort of wedding you want, look at your budget and then start looking at venues. 

Try not to close you eyes to something that may not seem to fit into your plans, as we found out, it’s the unexpected that worked in the end.  After all, so long as you are together with your family and friends making a lifetime promise to each other, does it really matter?
